Winery to Pay Over $300,000 in Lost Wages

Several agricultural workers will share in a $300,000 settlement of an unfair labor practice charge against Mauritson Farms Inc., a Healdsburg, Calif.

The California Agricultural Labor Relations Board said farm workers weren't rehired after raising concerns about transportation, bathrooms, shade breams  work hours and their treatment by their foreman.

In a related development, California Gov. Gavin Newsom said the state will spend $4.5 million to provide free legal services for undocumented workers in state investigations of wage theft or other labor violations. The lawyers can also help with their immigration cases, Newsom said.
